A RECENT COMMISSION
She found a flatweave she loved by Association Timouzouine and commissioned it changed twice over: an adjusted size — selvedge and fringe counted in, so the finished piece landed on exactly the measurement she needed — and a palette of her own, sage green, ochre and grey in place of the original's monochrome.

PRECISE DOWN TO COLOR
Every color on Anou is dyed at the AWSco Dye Atelier in Fes and logged in the color book, each with a number of its own. On any custom order, change any color in the piece — drop a numbered yarn straight onto the photo, before it is made or while it is on the loom.
No emails back and forth, no translation. The weavers see exactly which color goes where.
STEP ONE · HAND DYED IN FEZ
Once your order is confirmed, the artisans at the AWSco Dye Atelier in Fes turn your color numbers into real yarn — hand dyed, then sent out to your cooperative, wherever they are in the country.
Numbers, not names, is the point: color 246 in the color book comes out the same every time, a few skeins or a full run.
STEP TWO · ON THE LOOM
When your dyed yarn reaches the cooperative, your piece goes on the loom — and your commission dashboard connects you directly to the weavers. They send progress photos and videos as it comes together, daily updates land in your inbox, and you reply with messages translated in real time.
Fine-tuning colors? Mark up progress photos with the color annotator while the piece is still on the loom, so it comes out exactly as you imagined.

Once your rug is approved, it travels to Fes, where the best artisans from across the Anou community inspect it before it is sent to you — dimensions, finishing, the colors against your numbers.
If anything is off, the choice is yours: have it remade, take a discount, or get a refund.
AND UNDERNEATH IT ALL
The yarn that was dyed for you in Fes was spun first at the AWSco mill in Aït Bouguemez — hand-sorted highland wool, spun at a zero-carbon mill staffed by weavers from across the country.
Fiber, spinning, dyeing, weaving: every step of your commission happens in artisan hands, and every step is paid at the source.
Every cooperative here works differently, and that is the point rather than a problem to be solved. One group lands the measurement to the centimetre. Another leaves a selvedge with character and a size that breathes. Neither is a lesser version of the other. Commission a group's own design and their hand comes with it — nobody else can weave that rug, and the variation is part of what makes it theirs rather than a flaw in it.
01 · QUALITY IS NEVER RELATIVE
Every commission is inspected at our office in Fes before it ships — structurally sound, clean, properly finished. A rug that fails does not go out, whichever group wove it and whatever it cost.
02 · SIZE IS
We measure the finished piece against that group's own record. A group known for landing the measurement is held to exactly that; a looser group is held to their average plus a 10% margin. Miss it and we make it right. The tighter a group's record, the tighter they are held to it — so every group has a reason to become more itself.

If you bring your own design, we advise on which region and group it belongs to — so Morocco's regions earn from their own heritage, not a copy made elsewhere. Groups differ in what they charge and how tightly they hold a measurement, so tell us which matters more to you and we will place it accordingly.
