HOW IT WORKS

Your work goes straight to the people who weave it

No studio in between, no showroom markup, and nobody guessing at what you meant. Every frame here is one rug — Julien of @soufflecollectif sent the drawing, then came to Morocco to see it woven.

You send the work and choose a size

A drawing, a painting, a photograph of something you made, a screenshot. Pick pile knot or flatweave and the dimensions, and the form prices it as you edit, shipping to your country included.

It goes straight to a cooperative, who price their own work

We put it in front of a group that weaves that technique well, chosen on size accuracy, delivery record and how recently they last had work. They set the price and the timeline themselves. Nobody marks it up in between.

You decide, then you watch it being made

Nothing is charged until you say go. From then on you follow it on the loom, with progress photographs, until it ships.

Every rug is woven by hand on a loom, so sizes vary a little. Cooperatives differ in how tightly they hold to a target — this tells us who to send your rug to.

WHAT GOES INTO IT

Anything woven for you is made from yarn spun at the AWSco mill, colored to order at the AWSco dye studio in Fes.

Yarn spun at our own mill

Fiber is hand-sorted by artisans and spun at the AWSco mill in Ait Bouguemez, a zero-carbon mill staffed by weavers from across the country. Nothing is bought in from a wholesaler.

Color dyed to order in Fes

Your palette is dyed for your rug at our studio in Fes rather than picked from stock. If you want a color we have not made before, we can sample it first and send you a photograph.

Want to go deeper?

We'll make your piece either way. But designers keep coming out here in person — staying in Fes or with the artisan group itself, and working on the piece directly with the people weaving it.

COLLABORATION 01

Julien — a drawing, woven at full size

Julien of @soufflecollectif did exactly that for the rug at the top of this page. To get the vision precise he spent a week in Fes with the leader of the cooperative that would make it, then travelled out to the cooperative while it was on the loom.

First — working out the design in Fes, at the Anou store.

Then — out to the village, to see it on the loom.

COLLABORATION 02

Central Saint Martins — a scholarship collection

In partnership with University of the Arts London, Central Saint Martins, three students received scholarships for a month-long residency in Fes — with visits out to artisan groups — to develop a collection for winter 2026. Our team also ran trainings with full classes, and digitally connected our dye studio with theirs.

Amazigh Hair Couture — an installation with Ilham Mestour

Ilham Mestour is a Moroccan-born hair artist who has styled for Vogue, Balmain and the biggest houses in fashion. For Amazigh Hair Couture — her exhibition at M7 exploring hair in Amazigh culture as lineage, strength and memory — an Anou artisan travelled out to build the woven work on site, bringing the techniques the installation is built on.
