You have seen the photograph — the founder in a doorway, her arm around a weaver, a caption about the trip that changed everything. The weaver is not named in the caption. That is the genre, and it is what the markup buys: not better wool, not a tighter knot — a story wrapped around work somebody else did.
Anou is the opposite, and it takes about a minute here to see it: cooperatives set their own prices, their records are published, and the weaving pays a living. A minute of comparing shows the extraction just as fast — on Etsy, artisans can earn as little as 4% of what you pay, and brands run the same trade at several times the price.
So upload what you found. If it belongs to a living designer we may not be able to weave it — we will research it and tell you either way. If it is heritage work sold through a middleman, we place it with a cooperative from its region, and every dollar of the making goes to artisans growing the Anou community.

THE PART NOBODY ELSE CAN COPY
Anou is not a shop that buys from cooperatives. It is infrastructure that artisans run: the wool is spun at the AWSco mill in AΓ―t Bouguemez, the yarn is dyed to order at the studio in Fes by artisan leaders who learned there and now teach each other, prices are set at the loom, and every finished commission is measured and recorded.
That is not a promise about the future. It is a description of a supply chain that exists, and the reason the story-and-markup model is a choice rather than a necessity. Where you send the order is the whole argument.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Will you weave any rug I send you?
Traditional and regional designs, yes. Beni Ourain, Azilal, Boucherouite, Handira and the rest are Amazigh heritage — a brand can own a photograph, it does not own the pattern, and the communities those patterns came from should be the ones earning from them. A living designer's original work, no. If someone has made something genuinely their own, that is theirs; send it and we will tell you no. It is the same principle in both directions: the person who made the thing should be the person who benefits from it.
What does it cost?
Cooperatives set their own prices and keep them, with Anou's 23% already inside the quote. Rugs are priced by area, and the estimate calculator gives a live quote for any size, shipping included. Nothing is charged until the cooperative confirms their price and you agree to it.
Who will weave it?
If the design belongs to a region, we place it with a cooperative from that region. Within that region we narrow further on what you told us matters — exact size, or best value. A person on our team places every request by hand; nothing is auto-assigned.
Do I pay anything now?
No. The cooperative confirms their own price and timeline first, and you decide after that. Nothing is charged until you agree to it.
Isn't a cheaper listing just a better deal?
A price set by a buyer is a ceiling on a craft. When the careful weaver and the careless one are paid the same, there is no reason to get better and no way to be paid for it. Cooperatives here set their own prices, every commission is measured in Fes, and the record is published — so precision can charge for itself, and a group still learning earns a living while it gets there.
What do you publish, and what won't you claim?
We publish what cooperatives charge, their measured size accuracy and delivery record, and Anou's 23% fee. We will not tell you what any particular shop pays its supplier — we do not know, and inventing the number would make us the caption about the trip that changed everything. We tell you exactly what we pay; the rest is arithmetic you can do yourself.
