In their own words
Located in the province of Ouarzazate, the village is one of the oldest hamlets of Ait Wagharda, which belongs to the Commune of Siroua. It is distinguished by its stunning natural setting amidst the Atlas Mountains and its authentic rural charm, reflecting the region's rich history and local culture. For generations, the inhabitants have relied on agriculture and livestock farming, alongside a traditional craft that has been passed down through the ages: weaving authentic handmade carpets.
The carpets of Naqab are considered an important part of the area's cultural identity. They are meticulously handwoven while preserving the traditional symbols and patterns that tell stories rooted in Amazigh heritage. These carpets are also distinguished by the use of natural dyes extracted from local plants, herbs, and other natural materials, giving them a unique beauty and exceptional quality that reflects the authenticity of this traditional craftsmanship.
This craft is not only a source of income for the local community but also a testament to the people's deep connection to their roots and their commitment to preserving their cultural heritage. Today, the artisans of the village continue to develop and promote these authentic carpets both locally and nationally, ensuring that they remain a lasting symbol of genuine Amazigh traditional art.
