About Cooperative Tiglmamin

Tiglmamin is the Amazigh word for lakes. These beautiful lakes are located 40 kilometers from Khenifra in the heart of the Middle Atlas. The name was used for the cooperative because it means many small lakes in the feminine form, this meaning was tied into the many women who make up this cooperative and family. Rachida Ousbigh, the president of Cooperative Tiglmamin is an artisan leader for Anou. During Rachida’s time working for Anou and her exposure to other artisan groups around Morocco she started to think about all of the weavers in her own family who were no longer practicing their craft. Every woman in Rachida’s family knew how to weave but all of them stopped working because they could not earn enough from what the local middlemen would pay to support themselves. When Rachida shared the opportunity for them to start a group and sell through Anou’s online marketplace everyone was thrilled and this is how Cooperative Tiglmamin was born. Needless to say, this group of expert weavers are excited to be back reinvigorating their craft within the Anou community!
