The group's story
In their own words
Cooperative Tazmourt is a women-led artisan group from the village of Immouzzer Marmoucha. Founded with the mission of preserving their local ancestral craft and creating sustainable income opportunities for the women of their community, the cooperative brings generations of weaving knowledge to life. They handcraft a wide variety of rugs, from traditional flatweaves and intricate pile-knot rugs to colorful and creative boucherouite designs, each piece reflecting the artistry and heritage of their village.

Nadia Aqshtoul
Nadia Aqshtoul is a 35-year-old artisan, married and a mother of two, a daughter and a son. She learned the craft of weaving at a young age from her mother, who passed down her skills and knowledge of the craft to her.
In 2022, Nadia decided to pursue weaving professionally. She was motivated by a desire to become more independent, develop her skills and abilities, and earn an income that would help her provide for her children and support her family.

Fatema Hguera
Fatema is one of the women that founded the cooperative. She is today the main artisan that manages the account of the cooperative. She has one daughter called Fatema. Her goal is to preserve craft and develop a steady income from her handmade work.

Nadia Akchtoul
Nadia Akchtoul is 35 years old, married, and the mother of a daughter and a son. She learned the art of weaving from her mother at a young age. In 2022, she joined the cooperative with the goal of working, becoming financially independent, developing her skills, and helping provide for her childrenβs needs.
