About Cooperative Ikhf N'Ighir
Cooperative Ixf N'Ighir was created by a group of women of the village of Ixf N'Ighir in order to sell their products in an organized fashion on the Anou website. They saw this web based platform as a tool with which they could improve their living standards. Kaltoum Hakout, one of the women of the cooperative, was watching TV when heard about another cooperative nearby that was part of Anou that was doing well. With this, she approached a group women of the village as everyone sat washing family clothes, and she encouraged them to to come together to create a cooperative of their own. Each woman that she approached spread the word, and now about 20 women are part of the cooperative of Ixf N'Iger, a village carved into the edges of the valley of Ait Bouguemez, a common village for tourists to visit. All the women of the cooperative are weavers, specializing in Beni Ourain rugs, which are famous for their geometric patterns.
