MEET THE MAKERS
Aicha Omas
Many years ago, a man named Mohamed was working in the near by town of Khenifra when he saw a womenβs picture on the wall and immediately fell in love. He searched throughout the city until he found the woman in the photo and asked her to marry him. That woman was Aicha Omas. Today, Aicha and Mohammed now have a family of four boys. Their oldest son works at a hospital in a near by city, while the other children are all still finishing school. Through the sales of her carpets, she hopes that she can build a bigger house for her sons in the future so that they always have a place to call home in Zaouia.
VISIT THE VILLAGE
Association Zawia Oued Ifrane hosts visitors in their village — share tea, watch the artisans at work, and see the craft up close. Visits start at $17 per person, and most of it goes straight to the group.
