The designs made by the association are rooted in the long weaving history of the region. Many of these rugs, known as Taznakht rugs, are made distinct by bright reds and yellows, colors that represent the landscape in which the rugs were made. These bohemian style rugs have a contemporary feel while incorporating traditional Moroccan designs.

MEET THE MAKERS
Hasna Tjda
Hasna was born in the 1970โs. When she was younger, she moved to Tadula Zanfi because her dad found work in the local area as a miner. Her oldest son and daughter are both enrolled in high school and her younger daughter is still in elementary school. Hasna joined the association when it was first established and has loved working within it ever since, even though it only produces a small amount of income. She hopes that the sales can eventually improve so she can earn enough money to cover all the costs of putting her children through school.
VISIT THE VILLAGE
Association Timouzounin hosts visitors in their village — share tea, watch the artisans at work, and see the craft up close. Visits start at $21 per person, and most of it goes straight to the group.
