MEET THE MAKERS
Mina Achtouk
Born in 1977 in Azrou, Mina Achtouk is married to a mason. Together they have two sons in primary school. It was very important for Mina that her sons attend school because she didnβt get that chance growing up in poverty. Instead, she learned how to weave from the women in her family. When she got married she used her skills and sold her handwoven rug to finance her sonsβs education. Mina specializes in boucherouite. When the cooperative Tifawin opened its doors in 2014, she joined it so she could gain control over her own income and work with and learn from other weavers.
