MEET THE MAKERS
Mina Joud
Mina was born in the Ourzazate region in 1970 and has lived in the area ever since. She enrolled in school but at the end of 3rd grade she dropped out to help support her family. Today, her primary source of income is through the sales her rugs. In the future, she hopes that the association grows and expands.
Biya Lhid
Biya was born in the late 60's and has lived in the Ouarzazate region all her life. While she never studied in school, today she is enrolled in literacy classes at an association. Biya is married and has four children.
Fatima Amzil
Fatima was born in 1991,in the Lmdint village, she have been a participation on Association Afous Gafous sience 2017, she learned how to weave from her mother, and she chose to sell her product on Anou as there is a lot of exploitation in the markets, and now her gool to devellop the rugs in her area
VISIT THE VILLAGE
Association Afous Gafous hosts visitors in their village — share tea, watch the artisans at work, and see the craft up close. Visits start at $21 per person, and most of it goes straight to the group.
