MEET THE MAKERS
Sara Abna
I'm Sara, I'm 26, married and a mother of two. I dropped out of school my last year in primary school. I have a six year experience working in this cooperative. My mother taught me the craft of making rugs, I also joined in hopes of having a steady income to benefit my kids and also I just love making rugs, It's a passion of mine. I hope our cooperative succeeds even more in the future.
Fatema El Haroui
My name is Fatima El Haroui, I am 47 years old, married and I have 4 children. I did not learn to read and write. I started working with the cooperative 6 years ago. I learned the craft of rug weaving from my grandmother. I joinded the cooperative because I love making rugs and weaving. My goal with this cooperative is to have a stable financial income and also to develop our cooperative in order to help rural women who are in great need of it.
VISIT THE VILLAGE
Cooperative Tizi Nougdal hosts visitors in their village — share tea, watch the artisans at work, and see the craft up close. Visits start at $17 per person, and most of it goes straight to the group.
