About Palais Damasquini
The Damascene is an artisanal technique that consists of embedding a thread of gold, silver or copper on a surface of metal, before making a decorative product. The result of this process is called the Damascene inlay. This technique is very popular in Morocco especially in Meknes. It is used not only to decorate brackets and swords, but also to decorate dishes, vases and jewelry. This art of inlay is now a skill that is in risk of disappearing, and Meknes is considered one of the rare cities in the world where you can find good craftman (Maalems) that have this profession.
