Fatima is one of the original founders of Cooperative El Farah and serves as its president. Fatima began weaving with her mom when she was only ten years. Over the years, she has developed her weaving skills and has continued to refine them at the cooperative. Fatima hopes that through her weaving she is able to provide enough income to support her two children since she is a single mother.
Kenza was born in 1966 in ain leuh, she lives in Timahdit with her husband. She does not have any children and never had the opportunity to attend school. At an early age she began to weave, learning from her mother as she weaved. Kenza, like most of the other women of the cooperative, used to only weave in at home. After meeting a Peace Corps Volunteer, she felt inspired to earn her own income, and thus joined the cooperative. In the future she hopes that the cooperative will be successful and that she will be able to earn her own sustainable income to support herself and her family. She hopes that one day their products will one day be known throughout the world.
