Fatima was born in Teduit ZanFi, is 40 years old, is married to a man from the local village, and is the mother to five children, three of whom are still in school, and two of whom have left school. She learned the craft of weaving from her mother, and has been able to earn a small amount of income from her work to support her family. She hopes that one day she will be able to show her products at larger markets and fairs.
The designs made by the association are rooted in the long weaving history of the region. Many of these rugs, known as Taznakht rugs, are made distinct by bright reds and yellows, colors that represent the landscape in which the rugs were made. These bohemian style rugs have a contemporary feel while incorporating traditional Moroccan designs.
