Do instructors speak English?

The instructors speak English. Yes, artisan leaders that are selected to run the workshops do speak English and they are in weekly classes to improve. They may may not be fully fluent, but good enough to clearly explain concepts, provide support, and most importantly, ensure that you have a great time.

Do instructors speak other languages such as Spanish?

Some do, but we may need to specially organize your class so that we can ensure an artisan leader is present that speaks your language. Reach out to us at [email protected] before registering.

What can I expect in a weaving class?

When your lesson begins, you'll be assigned to work with an Anou artisan leader, an expert in weaving or in natural dyes. The artisan leader will guide you in the start until you have the hang of it. Once you have the hang of it, the artisan leader will allow you to weave on your own and will frequently check in on your progress and will alwyas be on hand to help answer questions or get you unstuck, literally or figuratively! Classes are capped at 7 people, and there may be other people in classes at different starting times. It's a great way to meet new people and learn new things at the same time!

What can I expect in a natural dye class?

For natural dye classes, you'll be assigned to an artisan leader. The artisan leader will go over the basics of natural dyes, such as which natural dyes create what color. Then you and the artisan leader will walk to the local spice market and buy natural dyes and bring it back to the dye studio where you'll dye your very own 100g skein of yarn.

How long are the classes?

So far, we've noticed they take about 4 hours. The weaving classes can be shorter or longer if you want. Sometimes weaving classes go longer if the design that is chosen is complex, and students are welcome to spend as much time in the space as they want. Some students come back to finish their weaving the following day. It is very much up to you. The dye classes are a bit more fixed, so they never go longer than 3 hours.

Absolutely! We can work with you to provide specific pricing for your business and help simplify the work of organizing your tour!

I scheduled a workshop but my plans changed. Can I get a refund or reschedule?

We unfortunately cannot provide any refunds for scheduled workshops but we can try our best to accommodate so just reach out if needed. We bring out artisan leaders from across the country, so your payments usually cover such costs.

What does BETA mean for the dye and spinning workhops?

Beta means they're still in development. As we strive to provide the best possible experience for our guests, Anou artisan leaders undergo extensive training and practice sessions to perfect the workshops. By signing up for a beta workshop, you'll have the opportunity to provide feedback and help us fine-tune the experience. As a thank you, we offer these workshops at a discounted price. Please be aware that your experience may vary slightly as we work to make improvements based on your feedback.
