Mariam is an Agouti native and has lived in the village her entire life. Unlike many of the girls in her village, she was able to attend high school and has taken on a leading role in the association. She hopes through the sales of her items on Anou that they will be able to fund a brighter future for Agouti's women!
Flatweave, or hanbel rugs, are created by threading wool through the warp as opposed to a pile, where threads are tied around the warp. By threading the wool through the warp, the rug is thin and light weight yet incredibly strong and durable.
