Meet the Artisans
Fatiha Taaziout was born in Nador, and she's married and a mother of three. She studied until twelfth grade before dropping out. From a young age she liked sewing and she eventually made it her profession. She doesn't get a lot of free time between raising her kids and working at the cooperative. But she hopes that the cooperative will do well in the future so everyone can keep doing what they like while providing for their families.
Khadija Bencheikh was born in 1979 in Nador. She's single and when she has the opportunity she likes to exercise and practice Taekwondo. She learned the craft from an old friend of her mother's and she later met Fatiha who encouraged her to join the cooperative and work with other women. She hopes she can live off of her craft and that the cooperative will prosper.
Aissa Taaziout, brother of Fatiha and Fadma, was born in 1967. He studied until tenth grade and is now married and father of four kids. He enjoyed the craft since a young age and when time allows it he likes to go on family trips. With all the struggle the cooperative members has been through he is looking forward to better days.
