Handmade by the Following Members of Cooperative Tifawin
Ija was born in 1953 in douar Askour, she’s married to a local farmer and has 5 kids. She never went to school and she learned weaving at a very young age. Weaving has been the only way she can financially contribute to her household’s expenses. She joined the cooperative hoping to have better opportunities with her weaving skills, and she also specializes in cleaning natural wool and handspinning it into yarns.
Mina was born in 1988 in douar Askour, like many girls of the region she wasn’t able to pursue her studies after primary school because the closest middle school was 10km away. She then learned weaving from her mother and later married a man of the region. Mina joined the cooperative in order to financially help her family in addition to her work in the fields. She hopes that their cooperative will do better than it is doing now and will be successful enough to enable the weavers to only focus on their craft.
