She attended primary school but had to stop after 4th grade because, like most families in rural areas, her family was afraid to let her go to and from school as she started growing up. Later, Zahira married a man from the region and learned weaving from her mother-in-law. She started working at the cooperative when it first opened in 2014 so she could make a living out of her skill and be around other artisans. She hopes that one day, their work will be renowned worldwide.
